Friends
You may have noticed that there is a BETA version of SynthFont, number 1.400. Why BETA? Because there's been a number of rather large changes made to pieces of the code in order to facilitate localized versions. This is thus a test of the localization technology based on this tool.

Additionally some other major changes are being made - for one thing, I've never been happy with the User Bank Manager and will create a new version as sson as I come back.

Keep me posted!

I ran the upgrade. It complained about needing to add VST effects (didn't remember which ones I'd assigned to the master bus). When I activated Midi input, it threw an error saying it couldn't start the rendering engine. I opened the settings window and just reselected output/input, etc. After doing that, activating midi input worked. If I close and restart the program, it still can't start the rendering engine and none of the changes made in the options are there. It appears that it's the Playback Buffer when NOT using ASIO. It's blank when it starts and even though I'm using ASIO, I have to pick a value (I used 1024) and then the rendering engine can start. It also doesn't remember the midi IO port nor the audio input.

Also, the settings still default to Agricola's Monochord instead of Equal Temperament.

Also, (and this happened in the previous version), if you close the window while Midi Input is activated, it throws an exception (it quits but you get the window that asks if you want to start a debugger with no error message; at least I get this since I have Visual Studio installed).

I have to make a lot of backing-tracks weekly for all the singers and soloists of an artist's agency.
¡¡ Many thanks !! Synthfont…. I find you absolutely helpful and usable.
Combining sf2 with some VSTi is a perfect solution for me sparing time to get good enough results to work professionally.

For now Sytnhfont works perfect with sf2 and I hope soon will be able of manage as well at 100% all VSTi settings, what I believe we all are waiting for.

It’s true that each release of the app is going better and better but I would like humbly suggest to its developer concentrate more on this VST hosting section of the software. Once we could work with full control over VST, saving and reloading well all its parameters Synthfont will be indeed my favourite app.

Please Kenneth still working and show the world how good job you are doing.

He's doing an awesome job artistasur :)
Most of the VST(i) issues have been resolved (I mainly use Dimension Pro, so trust me when I say it's a pain in the backside).
Problem is that not all VST(i)s seem to behave the same, so for SF to be compatible with all of them, is an incredible feat :)
It's almost there already!

It's true... this 1.4 beta works now well with most of VST(i)s but some others still giving troubles, i.e "MusicLab" Real guitar.
To made the job I mentioned before I give special attention to basses (Vsti(s) + allways compressor), brass (Vsti + effects) and very very important "rythm-guitar" where I use "Real guitar". The rest can be done by sf2 (SGM bank + well applied effects) and ocassionaly some others Vst instruments (complex strings, solo saxos, distorted guitar, etc..)
VST effects are now under control. I can certificate this with Ultrafuk-Sonitus (compressor, reverb, multiband compressor...), Luxonix LFX 1310, and some others. I can save and recall custom parameters and SF manage it smooth.
I wish we could one day have the same absolute control over any VSTi :) I know that is not an easy job but.... Talent is talent !!!!
I'll be here waiting and sharing my admiration with all of you.

Thanks again.

Thanks all of you.
I'm back. Vietnam was great - let me reveal a well-kept "secret": if you ever have chance to go there, don't miss the small town of Hoi An.

Next week I will spend some time on version 1.402, which will mainly comprise a number of reported bug fixes. New features will not yet be included.
