Just downloaded version V1.011 of SyFonOne and I can't get any sound output. Synthfont works fine. Is there any chance it's a conflict between VSTSynthFont and SyFonOne? SyFonOne was working fine before I installed the latest SynthFont and VSTSynthFont. No sound in either the V1.010 or V1.011 release.

I have been informed from other sources about the lack of audio, but I do not know the reason as it works well for me on my computer. Thus i need your help. Here is what you need to do:
I have also made a test-version of SyFonOne that prints out debug information in a separate window. Here is the test version:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1733095/SyFonOne1011A.exe
and here is the debug window:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1733095/DBWIN32.exe
Play a midi source as before (only a few notes should be enough) and send me the text from the debug window. It can be saved into a file.

Here you go. In the debug (for the sound font file and the Privs), I edited my actual domain name and logon and replaced them with DOMAIN and LOGON. There were correct in the debug but didn't want them out on the public internet. I also noticed that I left the debug window up after putting SyFonOne into sleeping mode and the CFdeDiskDrive::Initialize messages would continue to show up, about once a minute.

One thing I noticed is that the debug doesn't show sustain (hold) pedal command changes (maybe you aren't tracing cc changes).

Ok. I can see that Midi commands are coming in but nothing else seems to happen. Here is a new version for testing. This one writes out even more messages. You may choose to simply email me the file at info-at-synthfontDOTcom (you know).

Cheers
And many thanks for your help!

ACTUALLY
I just found out on another computer that SyFonOne was silent when using ASIO! I have looked at the code and there seems to be something not working correctly when ASIO is defined. I plan to run some more tests and release a new test version later today (Monday 22nd).

Here I am again
I think I have fixed the ASIO-related problem. A new version for testing is [NOT] HERE.

Cheers

No, but, HERE is a version that should work!

Yes you did! Sustain (hold) also works correctly.

Channel 10 seems to have problems playing drum sounds. only some of the sounds trigger. C2 (typically the bass drum/kick) always works but E2 (typically the snare) never does. all work fine in SynthFont. I've tried various sound fonts and it's the same on all (some notes sound; some don't)

One last suggestion, can you make the window resizable or a little longer? it cuts off the bottom channel/tracks and there isn't a scroll bar (mouse scroll wheel does work however).

More on the no sound on channel 10 problem. there are several programs that either have no left channel audio, no right channel audio or no audio. Seems to differ by sound font file.

Using the merlin_symphony.sf2 i went through every program change (1-128; does syfonone support bank changes?) and found these problems (you may want to turn off the reeeverb as that can make it harder to notice the problem):
These program numbers all had no left channel (only right):
1 (piano), 2 (bright piano), 48 (timpani), 61 (french horns), 128 (applause)

These program numbers all had no right channel (only left):
22 (accordion), 65 (soprano sax)

These program numbers didn't sound at all (no left, no right):
6 (electric piano 2), 25 (nylon guitar)

Using the bennetng_AnotherGS_v2-1.sf2, only program 47 (orchestra hit) had no sound. All others were correct (had left/right). channel 10 (drums) still had the same problem (some notes didn't sound).

Using the merlin_audigy.sf2, only the 48 (timpani) and 61 (french horns), had no left channel (only right). maybe it's sample related since those sound like exactly the same fonts as in the merlin_symphony.sf2.

Using the merlin_creative.sf2, all sounds were fine including channel 10 drum sounds.

Using the merlin_GMpro.sf2, 1 (piano), 2 (bright piano) were now left-only (no right) and 48 (timpani), 61 (french horns), had no left channel (only right). they looked to be the same fonts as in the other files.

Hope this helps.

A new version is out now. It SEEMS to correctly play all presets, but there can still be glitches so please report here anything you find as soon as possible.

New version does seem to mostly work :-)

One thing, using the merlin_symphony.sf2 with the standard drum set on channel 10 with program change 0, I did notice that now SyFonOne is working 'correctly' (to me) with hi-hat open (typically Bb2) getting stopped by hi-hat closed (F#2) and hi-hat pedal closed (usually G#2 but I've seen some kits set up to stop on G#1 or some other lower note). The sounds however, are all panned far left. However, the same sound font used in SynthFont, doesn't do that (neither terminates the open hat nor pans the sound left; in SynthFont, it's slightly right-center). Since I didn't create the sound font, I'm not sure which is correct although my preferences are for the open hi-hat to be terminated by the other hi-hat notes.

Thanks for all your work.

The hi-hats are all coded as belonging to the ExclusiveClass #1, meaning that they can't sound together. Both SynthFont and SyFonOne are supposed to realize this. I haven't yet checked SynthFont, but if it is as you say, then there is a bug that needs to be fixed. In my tests of SyFonOne, the sounds are NOT all panned to the left, though. Strange!
